TCR's focus is on the improvement of oral and listening skills. We aim to recruit experienced teachers and provide them with the tools to teach, while allowing them freedom to select the approach that will best meet their students' needs. Teachers undergo an intense three-day training workshop that familiarizes them with the culture of China and the educational needs they will be asked the students with.

Summer 2006 was our pilot year for our new curriculum, which included a textbook and teaching handbook, designed to fit what we've learned are the greatest needs of students in China. As conversation is the primary focus of the TCR Summer English Program, our teaching materials focus on setting the stage for meaningful and frequent conversation. Our teachers and students are encouraged to spend time outside of class to develop their conversational language skills in real life settings.
